How about a game controller review? How about a keyboard review including the sturdy keyboards of the old days? I like reviews of the common computer accesories. Every computer needs them — why not know which ones are better than others? MS will never get the truly precise, instantaneous, lag-free response while still using standard batteries. I bought one for work, liked it so much I asked for one for Xmas. And then bought 3 as Xmas presents. You do need a fairly recent OS, 95 and 98 are not supported.
Things must be really slow in the tech world if they are reviewing mice. I had the same problem! I switched to the Logitech cordless MX Duo. The mouse charging dock works great too. I found this mouse too big and cumbersome and especially heavy, the weight of the mouse to me is the single most important feature, when I tried it at Compusa a few weeks ago. You probably would get better life with conventional alkaline batteries in a wireless mouse.
Geoff, do the mouse buttons still work without the drivers? Do you still get the Wireless tab in mouse. I had a Qualcomm phone that did that and it was by far the easiest way to navigate through menus that I have ever seen in a phone. I also use only the Intellimouse Optical at home and at work. Sometimes I like to switch hands with the mouse, especially after some tense gaming has your right arm feeling like it wants to fall off.
I still use a Logitech Wingman gaming mouse for gaming. I use the 3 buttons for fire, forward, and reverse in shooters. I also have an MX connected for websurfing and what not. I like the mouse, but the clicky scroll wheel is annoying, I preferred the smooth scroll of the MS mice.
I have two Macs, neither of them has the one button. MS has supported the Mac with every mouse, I doubt this will be different. I tried Intellipoint 5. I would like to see a mouse with a horizontal wheel for the thumb, mainly for spreadsheets.
I had a cell phone a few years back with a thumb-wheel for scrolling through the address book, and it was great. And your points is? Why even bother posting? I doubt it would affect anyone significantly. I move the mouse and it looks pretty instantaneous to me. IIRC Radio Shack was selling a store-branded mouse with both horizontal and vertical scroll wheels several years ago. Unfortunately it used an entirely proprietary driver and horizontal scrolling functionality was a bit buggy….
I could notice latency on the mx since I am just as anal about latency…. Side scrolling would be nice. The only time this was ever an issue for me during games was sniping. I think he was talking about the latency associated with coming out of the idle state, not the dormant state.
Good review though, just some points may not be as specific as the atidrivers guy wanted, such as time to idle, latency out of time to idle vs latency out of dormancy, etc.
And you were aware of the issue as you mentioned control over how long the mouse had to idle before dropping into idle state would be a much appreciated feature. Dude, it takes 10 minutes of inactivity to drop into deep sleep. I am anal that way.
Since there are so many copy-cat MS clones, I hope this signals a new trend of the masses finally getting over the glowy mouse phase and a new fleet of mice without transparent plastic. I want my mouse to be 'awake' always, gaming or not. I dislike latency. If you haven't touched the mouse for 10 minutes, is latency really a concern when you move it for the first time? BTW, the mosue doesn't glow at all, unless you're using it on a glass table and can see the bottom. I have an MS mouse labelled Intellimouse Optical, and it has one button for your thumb and one for your ring finger.
Not only do I like this more, it seems like it would be better for left-handed folks too. Please say yes. The top horizontal scroll thing does looks transparentish tho. I hope no light passes through it. There have been other horizontal mice with different implementations of the scrolling for years. Type search above and then hit Enter. I N , Microsoft forever changed the mouse by introducing its first scroll wheel.
The wheel was an instant hit, and now nearly every mouse manufacturer has its own version of the revolutionary scrolling tool. Input devices. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately that didn't work. I had Intellipoint 8. I took your advice and loaded the intellimouse-explorer 3. Regardless now, in lieu of the buttons tab, which formerly showed the 3 main mouse buttons without buttons 4 and 5 grayed out, I have a Mouse and Keyboard Center tab but that only shows "Click here to change Microsoft Mouse settings.
If I run mouseinfo. You'd think if it acknowledges the buttons exist that there would exist drivers and software to configure it. Details required : characters remaining Cancel Submit. I have the same question 2. You MS support people are really useless. You don't read the question, and you don't provide solutions. Not only in this forum but in most of them. Here's a clue for you:. Also, thanks to MS for removing much of the Event Log ID technical info, and for not publishing up to date general technical info.
Forums are great for non-technical people, but those of us who know should have the option of just looking up the technical info. Hope that this helps, but I know it won't.
Just wanted to vent. Thanks to Steve Ballmer for helping destroy the reputation of one of the best products on the market, and the support along with it. You don't need drivers for Win 10 as it'll recognize the mouse. You are correct though, there is no way in Win 10 to reassign button functions.
So, you're out of luck since MS decided that you didn't need software that does that. Too bad that they didn't include that functionality in the mouse settings available in Win Just another example of how they decided what you needed and that's that.
I'm sorry to see that they've taken one of the most flexible OS and hidden and locked down much of the configuration options.
I guess they're trying to be like Apple. Details required : characters remaining Cancel Submit people found this reply helpful. This thread is locked.
